What are dental implants?
Dental implants are metal posts that act as artificial tooth roots. Similar in shape to screws, Dr. Peyray will surgically position each implant beneath your gums into your jawbone. Once in place, dental implants bond to your natural bone and become a sturdy base for supporting one or more artificial teeth. Dental implants allow our doctor to mount replacement teeth onto them. If you need to restore a full arch, you may be a perfect candidate for the full mouth treatment. Dr. Peyray will place anywhere between four to six implants and then attach a full arch of teeth, giving the procedure its name ALL ON 4 or ALL ON 6. Our team of experts works together under one roof, with a fully equipped, onsite lab, to build the beautiful smiles that our patients desire.

Losing a tooth doesn’t mean the end for your smile

We understand, when you lose a tooth you do experience some consequences that can make life physically and emotionally tough. There’s hope though—your smile CAN be restored. Dental implants offer a lifelike replacement to natural teeth that is indistinguishable from real teeth. Furthermore, implants prevent and correct issues that tooth loss brings such as:

Why dentures should be avoided if possible

Many people who have lost more than one tooth may think dentures are a viable option since they are less expensive than dental implants. They could be shocked to discover that the cost of dentures could be comparable to or higher than the latter. How can this be? Dental implants may involve a lower upfront investment— however, other costs related to bone loss, such as denture slippage begin to stack up over time.

That’s because dentures will not fit the same when the jawbone begins to change your facial structure. Often, patients will have to get new dentures made to accommodate. Yes, you guessed it—more money down the drain.

What are the different kinds of dental implants?
Dr. Peyray offers only the highest standard of dental implants: Neodent & BioHorizon.
These are high-end dental implants made of titanium. After adequate anesthesia, Dr. Peyray will position the implant into the proper position that has been carefully pre-planned. How long do implants need to heal?
In most cases, when dealing with full mouth reconstruction, this procedure can be condensed into one or two surgical visits depending on the clinical situation. If doing a single implant, you will need to heal between 4-6 months before the abutment & crown can be placed, as the implant integration process takes several months. If doing a full arch fixed bridge, you will go home the same day of surgery with a new temporary bridge of teeth that won’t come out of your mouth. You will need to heal for up to 6 months before transitioning into your final zirconia bridge.
After healing, you will return to our office to begin the process of restoration. Once the abutment and crown or final fixed bridge are placed you will be able to use these new prosthetics as you would your natural teeth.

What benefits do dental implants provide?
Dental implants look, fit, and feel like natural teeth, allowing you to protect your bones and teeth while stimulating bone growth and preventing bone loss. Unlike dentures, there’s no clicking, slipping, or the need to remove perfectly healthy teeth. For those who need full mouth reconstruction and move forward with a full set of Implanted Fixed Bridges, you will be able to eat anything you were able to eat when your natural teeth were in their best state. You will have full function of your teeth again.
What is a Sinus Lift?
Dr. Peyray may recommend a sinus lift before receiving dental implants. Usually, this is recommended in cases of large sinuses and low bone height in the posterior jaw bone. A sinus lift is a routine procedure to lift the floor of the sinus and simultaneously place a bone graft to allow for future implant placement.

The maxillary sinuses are the air-filled spaces within our skull, precisely behind our cheekbones. In some cases, as teeth are lost in the back of the mouth the location or size of these spaces can get in the way of treatment with dental implants. A sinus lift allows for the building of bone to place a dental implant. Dr. Peyray’s office offers a variety of treatments to support the gums, teeth, and implants. This includes highly precise procedures such as a sinus lift. Patients rely on Dr. Peyray in part because of his expertise, experience, and proficiency.

What is Dr. Peyray’s Approach to a Sinus Lift?
If you have been diagnosed with a sinus lift by Dr. Peyray, in most cases the procedure will be completed within a single appointment, however, at times, the implants will need to be placed several months after the sinus lift. In some cases, the sinus lift procedure and implant placement can be done in one visit. Dr. Peyray will discuss with you, which procedure you’re a candidate for. On the day of your procedure, he will work gently and carefully to ensure your comfort. After treatment is completed, Dr. Peyray’s surgical partners will review aftercare instructions with you on how to manage the area.
Does the sinus lift offer a predictable outcome?
Yes, sinus lift procedures are very common, and the outcomes are highly predictable. Dr. Peyray will take time to discuss with you during your consultation the details of the procedure along with what to expect in your treatment.

What does a sinus lift feel like?
Most of Dr. Peyray’s patients are impressed with how comfortable the microsurgical procedure is with a sinus lift. Most describe the sensation as being “fuller” in the area of the procedure. This is because the bone graft material is filling the site and creating a better foundation for a future implant.
How should I take care of the surgical site after the procedure?
In general, you should avoid contact with the area when you are eating or brushing your teeth. The best way to eat is to chew your food on the opposite side of your mouth. After about 4-6 weeks, the grafts will be integrated, and you can begin your normal brushing and eating habits.
